Rīgas satiksme” cleans up and disinfects all public transport vehicles every day
To reduce the risks of spreading COVID-19, as well as caring about the safety of its clients, “Rīgas satiksme” cleans up and disinfects daily all public transport vehicles that carried passengers. Every day these are more than 400 trams, trolleybuses and buses. The public transport is washed from outside as well.
Every tram, trolleybus or bus is cleaned up carefully after its return to the depot. Intensive cleaning was started on February 28. All handrails, window frames, walls are cleaned up, floors and other surfaces are swept and washed. To reduce the spreading of COVID-19 as much as possible, at the beginning of March we also started to disinfect public transport from outside.
The most intensive cleaning period is between 8:00 p.m. and 1:00 a.m. The biggest number of vehicles (150 on the average) is cleaned up at bus depot No. 7 located at Vestienas Street 35.
To reduce the risk of the spreading of virus COVID 19, everybody must be involved, so it is important that people have as little social contacts as possible and would use public transport during the emergency situation only when it is really necessary.
Those clients having returned from abroad in the last 14 days are urged to observe the quarantine set in Latvia and not to use public transport. Let us be responsible and take care not only of our health, but also of the health of people around us.
